LAWRENCE, MA - Live Lawrence!, a citywide partnership intended to celebrate local arts and culture, and stimulate economic development in Lawrence through a summer-long series of free cultural events, kicks off its third season on Wednesday, July 9, with the first of six lunch hour concerts at the Lawrence Farmers' Market. Los Sugar Kings will entertain market-goers with their exciting electric mambo sound from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the Market location on Appleton Way, between Essex and Common Streets.
Massachusetts State Senator Sue Tucker will be present to officially open the Market season and introduce Los Sugar Kings. The day's festivities will also include cooking demonstrations by chef Chris Young of Lawrence's Mill City Gourmet, featuring the Market's fresh, locally grown produce. For the children, there will be face painting by local artists.
The Live Lawrence! Farmers' Market Concert Series will feature free one-hour concerts from 1:00 - 2:00 PM throughout the Market season. The schedule is as follows:

Live Lawrence! is a partnership between the City of Lawrence and cultural, educational and environmental organizations dedicated to promoting and preserving Lawrence's rich history, diversity and cultural traditions. Live Lawrence! brings the sights, sounds and tastes of Lawrence together in a series of free events to take place during the summer and fall months. In addition to the Farmers' Market Concert Series, Live Lawrence! will sponsor four Traveling Cafés, evening events (schedule to be announced) featuring music, art, food and more, at locations throughout the city. The Live Lawrence! series culminates in October with the popular Canal IllumiNations, a daylong celebration highlighted by a flotilla of handmade lanterns (luminaria) launched in the city's waterways.
The partners in Live Lawrence! are: Cambridge College, Northern Essex Community College, Lawrence Heritage State Park, Essex Art Center, Groundwork Lawrence, Lawrence Community Works, Lawrence Cultural Alliance and the Lawrence History Center. Live Lawrence! is made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, in addition to corporate and individual donations.
