Ines started strumming the guitar at the age of 12. While still in her teens, she studied and emulated the great guitarists in Brazilian music such as João Bosco, João Gilberto & Baden Powell, all greatly influencing her music. Ines graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, earned a degree in music education from the University of Rio de Janeiro (UNI-RIO), and has conducted and sung in a number of professional choirs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Since 1994, Teresa has been working as a lead singer, performing with Brazilian jazz groups in Boston including Brasileirinho and Zabumbatuq, touring Europe in 1996. The Teresa Ines Quintet has performed in various Boston clubs including Ryles and the Regattabar, as well as in the Cafe Teatro Series at the Villa Victoria Cultural Center, First Night Boston, and the Cambridge River Festival. Teresa’s appearances also include Rio de Janeiro in 2000 and Suriname in 1998.
